Golden-wheel manufacturer has finally made their fifteen millionth boxer engine
Subaru has finally manufactured the fifteenth millionth
boxer engine for its golden-wheeled beauty, all-wheel-drive saloon and crossover WRX. It will also be used in Legacy and Outback models. Subaru has reached this milestone after 49 years as the horizontal four-cylinder engine was installed in the Subaru 1000 saloon in 1966.
For the past several decades, boxer engines have been recognised for their design and efficiency. These engines allow smoother working operations, sit very low on the engine bay and offer the better position for lower centre of gravity. Today’s
Subaru engines are powerful and give something extra than its predecessors.
Subaru manufactures the boxer engines with extra power and they are also a bit larger than the old engines, for example the FB25 engine is a 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine used in the Subaru’s uprated vehicles like Legacy and Outback. Remaining engine line-up includes 2.0 litre four-cylinder flat engine for
the BRZ models, 3.6 litre flat six engine which Porsche uses in their various models.
The year 2015 is only 2 months old but has been a good one for Subaru so far as not only it has manufactured fifteen millionth boxer engine it has also built their fourteen millionth symmetrical all-wheel drive system in the same year. Subaru holds the trademark for AWD.
