Subaru Impreza WRX STi With Boxer Engine
October 2, 2013
The Impreza WRX STi has been heavily modified and revamped; however the WRX STi has lost part of its heritage. In 1995, Colin McRae won the world rally championship with Impreza; it was the time for the fame of Impreza in UK as result of the championship. Subaru misread the likeliness of Impreza in the UK and changed it to five doors hatchback from four doors saloon. Ultimately, the result was in form of poor sales of Impreza hatchback and then Subaru named it as WRX STi to reintroduce it with new performance updates. Volkswagen Golf R and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X are the true challengers for the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. There is only one engine available for sale in the WRX STi that is 2.5 litres engine with 16-Valve turbo Boxer a real stonking unit. It is capable of producing 295bhp of power and pulling power of 300 lb-ft of torque. It only takes 5.2 seconds to sprint from stationary to 62 miles per hour and has a top speed of 158 miles per hour. The Subaru Boxer engine is very frugal that can tune up between corners and has a great straight line speed. When you push the throttle of the car, it literally pushes you into your seat with an unbelievable sheer force. It has equally good traction on wet and dry surfaces due to its all wheel driving technology. It has six speed manual gearbox that feels a little notchy in first and second gears but it is remarkable for raw performance. WRX STi is equipped with all new Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI Drive) that offers three different modes for different driving circumstances. For pure enjoyment and sharp driving on a racing track, SI Drive system offers Sport Sharp mode for quick responses. Sport mode slightly decreases the swiftness level of the vehicle and makes the car little less responsive and sharp. The third and final mode is called INTELLIGENT mode and it brings a controlled driving experience and maximum fuel economy on the motorway and congested roads.
