The WRX gets a body of carbon fibre and looks of a Jaguar
Subaru has made its new model of WRX concept public at the New York Auto Show 2014, which soon turned into a show stopper. This concept clearly outlined what this all-wheel drive sport saloon is offering in its rally-inspired line powered by a 2.0 litre turbo boxer engine.
The overall length of this new car is shorter by 2.3 inches as compared to the currently available ones but wider by 3.7 inches and it also is lower by 3.7 inches. The centre of gravity of this car is improved by using carbon fibre and lowering the roofline. The rear diffuser is also made of carbon fibre which was not available in the previous versions.
Well, things sound pretty good so far but the question arises, how does it look? The answer is, a Jaguar, if not completely then a lot at least. The car is feared to lose its roots as a boy racer if the production version of this car turns out exactly the same as it is looking right now. But what gives this car a much mature look is the new gaping grille, wide vents around the fog lamps and head lamps that are swept back a bit.
The sides of WRX contain its strong character lines and broad posture, the trunk cover is specifically designed so that it will act as a spoiler. Although the next generation WRX will look more mature but it could not resist the neon tweaks.
The give WRX a bit more distinctive looks, fluorescent yellow finish has been given to the WRX badge that is built into the grille, brake callipers and the tips of exhaust pipes.
